» Arranging / Scoring:.Need a string arrangement for your song or maybe a horn section? Are you a vocalist that has lyrics but no music? Do you already have some songs, but want to tune them up a bit? Maybe you want a harp in your song, but you don't know how to score for a harp? Make it longer, make it shorter, put in some hooks, a key change, some hits, a new melody, some harmonies? Maybe it's a tempo or rhythm change? Whatever it may be, we can help. » Mobile Recording:.Need to record a show? We've got you covered! With mutliple recording rigs and equipment combinations to choose from, having the right tools for the right job is no problem. We have small rigs for small projects, big rigs for small projects, small rigs for big projects, and yes... big rigs for big projects! We can do a one-off show if that's all you're interested in, or a whole run if you feel that's what it'll take to capture the magic. And just as with booking studio time, we encourage you to contact us as early as possible if you might be interested in having Hillgrove record your show(s). We've experienced a tremendous surge over the past few years with live recording, and our schedule tends to fill up pretty fast, so don't delay. » Studio Recording:.Although Hillgrove has arguably made a bigger name for itself with live recording, studio recording is where our roots come from. We have the tools and experience to help you create the album you need! Hillgrove uses a top-shelf analog front end to capture every nuance of your music with clarity, depth and impact, just like the best engineers have done for years. Then your audio takes a step into the future. We import the audio into the digital realm (via high-end A/D converters), where virtually limitless possibilities very much become reality. Often times nothing more than mixing is done at this point, but we have the ability to take things a lot further. We can do anything from pitch-shifting, time manipulation, and sample accurate non-liner editing, to noise removal, sound replacement, and much, much more. The only limitation is our collective imagination! » Mastering:.One more benefit of choosing Hillgrove Recording is our mastering services. Mastering is the final step in the recording process before you press your CDs. It is the point where effects such as eq, compression, and limiting are added to the stereo mix of your material. This is done in order to give it a cohesive sound from song to song, to raise the overall volume, and to make it sound as good as possible on as many different sound systems as possible. Too many times you'll see bands spend thousands of dollars to have one of the big boys do their mastering, only to be disappointed with the results. While it's true that professional mastering facilities are usually designed and built from the ground up for just that purpose, sometimes a recording can get mistreated. There are also a growing number of unexperienced engineers out there that can often do more harm than good. So while many mastering facilities can and will do amazing things with recordings, it unfortunately is not always the case. Negatives aside, we typically encourage our recording clients to go to a professional mastering facility, so long as they can afford the hefty rate of $100/hr or more. The basic thinking is that a fresh set of ears tends to make for some of the best quality control in these last, crucial stages of a recording project. Someone who was not involved with the original mixing, and who's been doing little else but mastering for many years. Still, results can be varied and letdowns do occur, and some just can't afford to spend the additional $500-$5,000 on their recording. For all of these reasons, Hillgrove does offer its own mastering services, and at a very affordable price. » Digital Distribution:.Need to get audio online? Whether you're interested in streaming parts of your new album from your website, or selling an MP3 version in the iTunes store, Hillgrove can help! We can also be your online free trading liaison by converting, tagging, and uploading (aka: seeding) your live recordings to major sites like the Live Music Archive (archive.org). Ever wonder what the heck these FLAC files are that you keep hearing more and more about?. Well fear not... we know. » Merchandising & Duplication:.Hillgrove Recording has a growing base of associates which we deal with on a regular basis. We make it our personal mission to become familiar with any and all companies that our clients deal with. This allows Hillgrove to have a much larger knowledge of pricing, customer service, quality, and turnaround times, all of which is to benefit the client. With the rapid advancement of technology, new options like multimedia CDs and DVDs are constantly evolving, and somebody needs to stay on top of the change. How about a good price on T-shirts, stickers, lighters, or even customized condoms? Let Hillgrove help. Maybe you need someone to design your logo or illustrate your cover art? How about some killer photos for the liner? You're in luck, as not only do we have our own graphic and web designer, but we also work directly with many other talented associates to get your project done right. Need 100 CDs tomorrow? We also offer in-house duplication for small runs. |
