» Bio:.Dan Silvia has been actively involved with music now for over 20 years. Starting out in the school marching band and eventually moving on to rock and jazz bands, he has covered a large number of instruments and styles of music throughout his experiences performing, expanding his intimate knowledge of music theory and instrument training along the way. Dan was introduced to the world of audio recording as a Freshman in high school through an electronic music class, building upon that with his time spent working in the school's A/V department. Starting with nothing more than a small, simple recording rig he had setup himself, Dan independently set out to hone his skills behind the board. Upon graduating from high school, Dan went on to attend The University of New Haven where he received a B.A. degreee in Music and Sound Recording. And after a few more years of performing, Dan started up his own home-based project recording studio... the humble beginnings of what has grown into the multifaceted Hillgrove Recording of today. » Philosophy:.Hillgrove Recording was started with the idea of helping great local musicians to get heard. At Hillgrove, we live and breathe all things musical. Music is very much our life. If we're not listening to it, it's because we're playing it. And if we're not playing it, then we're recording, mixing or mastering it. We possess and continue to develop a profound understanding of what goes into making a great, cohesive record, as well as what it takes to make that recording sound just as good. Our goal is to help local musicians meet their professional recording goals while keeping the entire process as friendly as possible. In our opinion, in order to give an artist the individual treatment they deserve, one must go well beyond that which is typical of so many "1-2-3" studios today. Instead of merely booking some time, recording some tracks, then saying "see you later," we make it a priority of hearing every client at least once in a natural rehearsal/performance environment before ever stepping foot in the studio. In this way we are able to hear the artist as they normally hear themselves, and/or as they would naturally present it. This process has proven invaluable in transitioning the music to a recorded medium, as well as achieving a more personalized sound. Hillgrove Recording is one of the most comprehensive yet personalized production services in this area. Going the extra mile for our clients isn't just something we'd like to do, but rather the only way things are done around here... it's how we do, what we do. Dan Silvia |
